Abu Dhabi students no longer required to wear face masks outdoors

Social distancing restrictions have also been dropped

Dubai, March 10, 2022: The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has issued a circular to private schools in Abu Dhabi stating that students can take off their face masks when they are outdoors in schools. Giving further relaxation, ADEK has made physical distancing optional for students outdoors.

However, students in Grade 2 and above are still required to wear face masks when they are inside. Similarly, all kinds of field trips can be resumed while keeping the precautionary measures in place. All school sports activities and competitions, in-school events with 90% capacity can resume. Meanwhile, school buses can now operate at full capacity.

There are no quarantine requirements for close contact students below 18 years. However, students must test on days 1 and 4.

Students aged 18 and above and teachers and staff who have come in close contact with a positive case need to test every day for five days.
