Tomouh’ programme succeeds in providing large number of teachers in Qatar

The programme is adopting high school certificate holders to join the teaching profession after graduating from the College of Education at Qatar University

Doha, Feb 21, 2023: Buthaina Bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Higher Education Qatar has said that the Tomouh programme has been successful in providing schools with a large number of teachers from both genders.

Speaking at a weekly session of Shura Council, the Minister of Education and Higher Education said that the programme adopts high school certificate holders to join the teaching profession after graduating from the College of Education at Qatar University.

The session of Shura Council was headed by Speaker of Shura Council Hassan Bin Abdullah Al Ghanim.

She also pointed out that this issue related to the decrease in the number of Qatari teachers is not limited to the country. She said it is a problem afflicting the countries of the region and the world, as the teaching profession is not the first choice for young people for several reasons, including the nature of the work despite the allowances and privileges for teachers.
